SEVERE BLEEDING — DIRECT PRESSURE
- Expose the wound. Remove or cut away clothing.
- Press firmly with a clean cloth or gloved hand.
- Hold continuous pressure 10 minutes — do not lift to check.
- If blood soaks through, add layers; do not remove the first.
- If bleeding is on a limb and uncontrolled, apply a tourniquet high and tight; note the time.
BOILING TIMES BY ALTITUDE
| Altitude | Rolling boil |
|---|---|
| Sea level – 1,000 m | 1 min |
| 1,000 – 2,000 m | 3 min |
| Above 2,000 m | 3 min minimum |
NOTE: Boiling kills pathogens; it does not remove chemical contamination.
OHM'S LAW
Voltage (V) = Current (I) × Resistance (R).
To find current: I = V / R. To find resistance: R = V / I.
Example: a 12 V battery across a 6 Ω load draws 2 A.
USE: size wires, fuses, and loads safely.
