Straight answers.

When does it ship?

Pre-orders ship April 2027. You're reserving at the pre-order price of $289 (RRP $369).

What exactly is the Survival Codex?

A rugged, hand-cranked handheld holding a vast offline library of survival and rebuilding knowledge, searchable by voice and browsable on a sunlight-readable e-ink screen. It also senses temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure.

Does it need internet?

No. It works 100% offline. It only connects (via USB-C at home) to update its library — then it's fully self-contained.

How does the "always current" updating work?

Plugged in at home, it pulls the latest curated intelligence for your chosen region and topics. A $1/month plan (launching with the device) covers keeping it current — your first 12 months are included. Once you go offline, it holds the most recent version.

How is it powered?

A built-in hand crank recharges it — it never runs out of battery. It also charges via USB-C (and an optional solar panel).

Does it call for help / have GPS / a radio?

No. It has no radio, transmitter, or GPS. It is a knowledge, power, and environmental-awareness device — not a communication or rescue device. (Maps use pre-loaded data; you mark your position manually.)

What's the EMP case?

An optional shielded case for storage. To protect against an EMP event, keep the device in the case when not in use. (The device must be removed from the case to sync.)

Is the information reliable?

Content is curated and distilled from reputable sources, but it is reference information — not a substitute for professional medical care, emergency services, or hands-on training.

Can I cancel my pre-order?

Yes — full refund available any time before your order ships. Email us and we'll take care of it.

What are the add-ons?

The EMP-Shielded Case ($69) and Solar Charging Panel ($49) — both ship together with your device in April 2027. Map Packs arrive at launch.
